RULES & TERMS

ELIGIBILITY:

Only film productions completed between January 1, 2022 and September 27, 2024 are eligible. Accepted entries will be announced via email or phone call by October 15, 2024.

Eligible films include works by Greek or Cypriot filmmakers and filmmakers of Greek or Cypriot descent worldwide; films about Greece and/or Cyprus; Greek and Cypriot productions or co-productions; as well as films by emerging US or international and local filmmakers with a prevalent Greek/Cypriot theme. Films by Greek or Cypriot directors, writers, and producers; films by Greek or Cypriot actors in starring roles; co-directors, co-writers and co-producers are also eligible.

RULES & REGULATIONS:

The Film Submitter understands and accepts that if their film is accepted for presentation and screening at the Houston Greek Film Festival (HGFF), they grant full and unrestricted permission for the HGFF to screen the film at times of the festival's choice and for HGFF to charge an admission fee for the presentation of the digital video program. The Film Submitter understands and accepts that they do not participate in receiving any funds from the Box-office proceeds which are fully retained by the HGFF.

The Film Submitter releases the HGFF from any and all liability for damages or destruction of the entered film. The Film Submitter understands that the entered DVD/BluRay or other digital format will be retained by the HGFF. The HGFF assumes no liability whatsoever for theft, copyright violations or piracy of the entry.

The HGFF is not responsible for any malfunctions during the presentation of the production at the festival screening, and assumes no responsibility for any technical difficulties in the presentation of this video at the actual event.

The HGFF reserves the right to make changes in the program dates and times and to possibly not screen the video, despite its being selected for screening.

OWNERSHIP & RIGHTS:

The Film Submitter maintains the rights to their work. Submitted film entries are only accessible to HGFF screening staff. The HGFF does not own the rights to the submitted films, and so the HGFF will not distribute them publicly in any way. The only public viewing of submitted films will be if the film is selected for use during the weekend of the Festival.

LOGISTICS:

You may send just one DVD/BluRay/Digital Copy for multiple category entries. Entries can be NTSC, PAL, or SECAM, – any and all regions. There is no extra charge for PAL or other formats. We accept all regions and all formats. We also accept USB Flash Drives and mp4/mov.

PAYMENT:

The entry fee to submit a film is $35. The entry fee will be assessed in the following manner:

The $35 entry fee is non-refundable.

SHIPMENT:

You may ship your film entry to the HGFF using US Media mail, 2nd Day USPS, Priority Mail, DHL, UPS or FEDEX. Contact HGFF staff by e-mailing us HERE to arrange shipping.

NOTIFICATION AND RESULTS:

You will be notified via e-mail when your entry is processed. You will then be notified via e-mail of the selection results before the festival. If the Film Submitter's work is not selected for showing during the Festival, the $35 entry fee will not be refunded.
